The annual Newcastle Leaders Leap took place on Friday, 30 June 2023 to raise essential funds for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
16 local leaders, including Coal Services Chief Operating Officer Wayne Green, abseiled from the roof of McDonald Jones Stadium under the guidance of Mines Rescue.
For many, the 30-metre drop was an opportunity to conquer a fear of heights or try something new in an event that reflects the work of the Rescue Helicopter Crew who regularly winch people to safety from the bush, ocean and hard to access locations.
Mines Rescue lived up to their reputation as experts in their field, making sure all the Leaders felt safe and safely made it over the ledge and back to the ground.
The event raised more than $52,000 for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
