Introduction

This course provides you with the skills and knowledge to carry out workplace training and assessment.

Who should attend?

Individuals who have technical expertise and may be required to train and assess colleagues in the workplace, or those wishing to acquire new skills.

Mines Rescue is licensed to deliver this course by the course owner, Training Services Australia (RTO ID 1984).

Credential issued

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be awarded a Statement of Attainment for:

  • 10898NAT - Course in Field-based Training and Assessment

You must complete 2 units (made up of a core and elective) to achieve this qualification. Mines Rescue offer the following units:

Core
  • NAT10898001 Carry out workplace assessments
Elective
  • TAEDEL301 Provide work skill instruction
Course delivery

This course is delivered through classroom-based training, desktop scenarios and practical exercises.

Assessment includes written and oral tests; practical workplace assessments under the guidance of an appropriate workplace mentor; and submitted projects/assignments.

Duration

A total of five days, typically split into two streams

  • Three days - TAEDEL301 Provide work skill instruction
  • Two days - NAT10898001 Carry out workplace assessments
Entry requirements
  • There are no formal pre-requisites for this course
  • You are expected to have knowledge and experience in the area you intend to train and assess.
  • This course is based on a Certificate III level qualification. You should have appropriate literacy and numeracy skills to manage course work, activities and assessments.
  • Mines Rescue recommends you be aware of the policies and procedures of your workplace before starting the course.

What we include when training is at a Mines Rescue Station:

  • Additional PPE specific to your training

What you need to bring:

  • Fully enclosed footwear
  • Unique Student Identifier (USI) number
  • Students are encouraged to bring a sample of their workplace training and assessment tools

Refresher:

Training Services Australia recommends refresher training every three (3) years.

Students Under 18

Mines Rescue minimum age for enrolment is 15 years. If you are between the ages of 15 and 18, we require your parent or guardian to sign your Student Enrolment Form. Please contact a Mines Rescue Station directly to enquire or enrol into your course.

Visa Holders

Mines Rescue is not CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students) registered. If you are visiting Australia and hold a visa, please contact Mines Rescue directly prior to enrolling into any of our courses.
